M1 Legal’s associates have confirmed a record week of Spanish timeshare claim awards, with client compensation totalling more than £405,000. Most of the successful cases related to well-known European timeshare operators, with an average award of around €19,000.
In total, 21 timeshare contracts were declared null and void by the Spanish courts. A Spanish consumer protection law introduced in 2015 strengthened the position of owners where contracts were found to breach the rules. If you have a Spanish timeshare contract dated after 5 January 1999, you may be entitled to a lump-sum award.
Since January 2021, M1 Legal has secured 139 awards worth £2.4 million—almost double the value achieved in the same period last year.
With pubs and other non-essential businesses now re-opening, there may be a sense of light at the end of the Covid tunnel. However, booking a holiday at your timeshare resort this year could still be extremely difficult. After close to two years of disrupted travel, many owners have missed out on holidays, and resorts may be trying to catch up for years to come.
