American timeshare operators and questionable exit firms have been put on notice, as European Consumer Claims (ECC) partners with leading US timeshare lawyers to pursue justice for people harmed by resorts and exit companies alike.
With multiple offices throughout the UK and Europe, expert staff including specialist timeshare lawyers, and a current claims portfolio worth hundreds of millions of pounds, ECC has become a leading force in the fight for European timeshare consumer rights.
Since 2016, ECC has helped thousands of timeshare owners escape restrictive contracts and seek compensation where high-pressure sales operations were operating unlawfully.
Year after year, ECC has built on that work. For decades, some of the biggest names in the European timeshare market ignored the laws designed to protect consumers from illegal contracts and unfair sales tactics. ECC challenged that behaviour head-on.
Market leaders such as Club La Costa, Azure, Silverpoint, Anfi and Diamond Resorts Europe have paid substantial compensation awards to mis-sold customers. As a result, some have closed, while others face bankruptcy, administration and insolvency. The era of unchecked greed at the expense of consumers is being brought to an end.
ECC has now turned its attention across the Atlantic, joining forces with some of America’s foremost timeshare lawyers. ECC’s track record, experience and expertise are being used to take on the powerful US timeshare industry on behalf of consumers who have lost significant sums through unfair, high-pressure sales practices.
A new entity, American Consumer Claims (ACC), is being created to handle the anticipated volume of work in the growing US timeshare market.
“It’s time for us to bring our hard-won experience to bear on bad actors in the USA,” says Andrew Cooper, CEO of ECC.
“In Europe we have around a million timeshare owners; the US figure is ten times that. There are vast numbers of people whose lives have been ruined by high-pressure sales and dishonest practices — not just by timeshare companies, but also so-called ‘exit firms’.
“American Consumer Claims will be here to help you if you have been wronged by US timeshare operators.”
Some US exit firms, including Timeshare Termination Team, have been shut down over non-compliant operations and forced into bankruptcy — leaving thousands of timeshare owners out of pocket and still tied to expensive memberships.
ACC will be offering three types of services to the US timeshare market:
“Basically, if someone has been taken advantage of by a timeshare company, or then targeted by an exit firm for even more money, we are here to help,” says Cooper. “In Europe we currently work together with a specialist firm of timeshare lawyers called M1 Legal. M1 Legal has an unimpeachable success rate in challenging and overturning the illicit behaviour of European timeshare giants.”
“This move into the US market involves our most exciting collaboration yet — this time with some of the most respected and accomplished timeshare lawyers in the continental United States.”
If you are a timeshare owner — or an exit firm victim — and you want closure, whether that means successfully relinquishing your timeshare, recovering money paid to a suspect exit company, or potentially recouping money paid for your membership, licensed, practising lawyers in this field are ready to help.
